Louis Vuitton Appoints Johnny Coca As Women’s Fashion Leather Goods Director
The Spanish accessories designer will bring his creativity to the iconic French maison, while working alongside creative director Nicolas Ghesquière
Louis Vuitton has brought unique designs to the world, combining innovation with style and always aims for the finest quality, while remaining faithful to the spirit of its founder.
Throughout the past few years, Johnny Coca has become a major player in the elite handbags and accessories industry. He will now bring his experience from the likes of Mulberry, Bally and Céline to the French luxury label’s accessories range.
“I would like to thank Delphine and the LVMH Group for their renewed confidence, and I am very honoured to return to this prestigious House, a symbol of travel and an invitation to dream, where imagination meets innovation and the highest standards of excellence,” Johnny said, adding, “It opens a new chapter in my own creative adventure, in an extraordinary laboratory that blends heritage and modernity.”
Going back to 1996, Johnny Coca studied at the Beaux-Arts and the Boulle school of applied arts in Paris, starting his career as a leather goods designer at Louis Vuitton before moving on to Bally. He worked at Céline under Phoebe Philo and eventually made the move to Mullberry as creative director, where he held the position for five years.
“I am happy to welcome Johnny at the Maison Louis Vuitton and very pleased that he is joining me on this journey that started a few years ago. The team and I look forward to working with him in the inspiring world of Louis Vuitton,” Nicolas Ghesquière, creative director of Louis Vuitton, said.
Johnny will officially start his position at the French luxury maison on June 2.
