Saudi Label Daneh To Launch On Moda Operandi
The brand’s Pre-Fall 2018 collection will be available to shop online sooner than you think
Since debuting her label in 2011, Dubai-based Saudi designer Daneh Buahamd has built a following for her brand of effortless chic, one that crosses borders through her thoughtful approach to transforming luxurious textiles into a modern wardrobe. “There is a power to chic dressing that transcends seasons,” says the designer, who likes to combine contrasting materials in one look to blur the line between day and eveningwear.

Her focus on beautifully crafted modern clothes with subtle hints to her heritage brought her to the attention of noted fashion editors and retailers.

For Pre-Fall, she created easy shirt-dresses, trench coats and chic separates cut from luxurious cotton, gingham and playful stripes inspired by ‘90s female-fronted rock bands and the universal appeal of flannel, a fabric found in diverse cultures. Versatile pieces include a reversible gilet and overcoat, while thoughtful tailoring details found throughout her collection come in the form of cloth-covered buttons and tiny pin tucks to shape a deceptively simple blouse.

Amongst the collection’s standout pieces is are layered asymmetrical floor length skirts in contrasting fabrics as well as trapeze tops that demonstrate her continuing exploration of materials and construction. “I spent the last few seasons building my design vocabulary and I now feel confident enough to take risks and push myself creatively,” says Daneh, who from 24 January to 19 February, will be one of a handful of Arab designers invited to debut her Pre-Fall 2018 collection on the exclusive online boutique Moda Operandi, where customers will be able to pre-order her collection before it hits stores.
