The event aims to raise money for the museum’s fashion wing, and is accompanied by a renowned fashion exhibit, in which historical pieces from the museum’s archives are displayed.

Every year, the Met Gala follows are carefully-considered theme. This year, with the theme Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, the exhibit will feature 250 pieces of some of the rarest, never before-seen items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection.

The dress code for this year’s grandiose event is the The Garden of Time, inspired by a 1962 short story of the same title, written by J.G. Ballard.
