15 French Designers To Add To Your Closet Post Couture Week, From Fashion Insider Céline Sabbagh
Stylist and founder of cool girl fashion guide L’Accent, Céline Sabbagh gave us the inside scoop on which French designers to keep your eye on now.
As we near the end of Paris Haute Couture week, it’s only fair we dress to the occasion. French, Italian and Lebanese fashion aficionado, Céline Sabbagh spoke with Bazaar on laissez-faire ways to embrace Parisienne style.
Having had her start in fashion graduating from Istituto Marangoni Milano in Fashion Styling, and later working for Christian Dior and Giambattista Valli in Paris, Céline has always had a knack for sleuthing out niche designers and inheriting impossible-to-find closet staples. This past year her fashion finesse led to her carving out a piece of the internet to share her insider knowledge: L’Accent. “We were in the midst of the pandemic and I was able to switch off and take time to educate myself on how the covid crisis would force our industry to evolve. I also realized there was a gap between what the market offers (in terms of emerging brands and established ones) and the way consumers discover them,” Céline recalls.
At the time, Instagram had just launched its guide feature which turned out to be the perfect home for L’Accent’s style guides. “I started receiving a lot of interest and decided to put more focus on it which led me to launch a weekly newsletter that subsequently led to the marketplace L’Accent is today.” The site’s style guides blow the dust off of long forgotten designers and showcases emerging talent that otherwise would’ve gone unnoticed during a time when staying at home became the new normal. Céline also conducts private styling sessions, helping the fashion conscious find unique looks to set them apart. “My goal is to help every single soul discover unique clothes that will make them feel empowered, self-confident and bring joy to their every day.”
When it came to this past Fall 2021 Haute Couture Week, one particular trend caught Céline’s discerning eye. “I definitely see embellished denim being implemented into the real world. The trend was seen at Schiaparelli, Balenciaga and Jean Paul Gaultier. It was Balenciaga’s show that captured Céline’s heart. “Balenciaga Haute Couture Show has definitely been the highlight of the Haute Couture Season for me. The collection was breathtaking, Demna Gvasalia focused on a less is more perspective and on the shape of silhouette.”
As for the secret behind french style? “French Fashion is an attitude. French women are effortless in the way they dress. They always add that little ‘Je ne sais quoi’ to their look which makes the difference.”
