Introducing Belmonde: Kristina Fidelskaya’s Spring-Summer 2021 Collection Is Made For A Modern Day Femme Fatale
A celebration of life and female empowerment, the Dubai-based designer pays homage to 1960’s cinematography and the seductive vibes of the era
Kristina Fidelskaya designed her latest SS 20/21 collection ‘Belmonde’ based on the mesmerizing and celebrated French actor, Belmondo and the phrase ‘Bel Monde’ — which literally translates to ‘beautiful world.’

The show is set in the late 60s in St. Tropez. It was the tipping point of the era where women started to play the lead in cinema, films told stories of characters who ran away on adventures to the French Riviera and female leads were revered for their stellar performances and charisma. The coast was also a place of tranquillity for those who wanted to escape from their troubles, but to never be unseen.

“I’ve been forever enraptured by Jean-Luc Godard’s satire of the lovers-on-the-run scenario with Anna Karina and Belmondo, and their compelling dynamic in “A woman is a woman”. The feeling of setting off on unplanned escapades and long coastal drives truly epitomizes the feeling of summer, and how beautifully life can be lived in those spontaneous moments – which I have intended to recreate through the ‘Belmonde’ collection.” Kristina says.

Due to the on-going global pandemic, the collection was presented in a video rather than physically at Paris Fashion Week where the label has been showing since 2017.
The collection features an array of bright prints, primary shades, and monochrome pieces that layer on perfectly with a mix of fabrics from hand-cut leather to embroidered floral tulle and gorgeous chain belts.

Kristina also designed outerwear such as coats, boots and accessories that amplify the allure and mystery of what it means to be a woman that always leaves a lasting impression.
