The Green Carpet Fashion Awards may only be three years young, but the innovative platform has already established itself as a visionary authority in the luxury fashion arena. From its iconic green carpet, made completely from 100% recycled Italian ECONYL regenerated nylon yarn, to an outstanding roster of A-list designers, celebrities and models dressed in vintage, rented or ethically-conscious eveningwear, every element of the entity’s 2019 edition was carefully curated to keep its sustainability-focused efforts at the forefront.
The eco-friendly event, organized by the Camera Nazionale Della Moda and Eco-Age, closed Milan Fashion Week with a high-profile celebration of successful initiatives implemented by brands and individuals within the fashion and entertainment industries. The goals were simple; to inspire the industry at large with proven business practices and to shatter inaccurate notions pertaining to sustainability’s limitations within the realm of luxury.
To further demonstrate the practical implementation of sustainable design within the fashion industry, the Camera Nationale Della Moda and Eco-Age worked with some of the industry’s most influential luxury brands to create ethical, custom gowns especially for the event. The collaborations included stunning creations from global fashion heavyweights such as Valentino, Emilio Pucci, Alberta Ferretti, Miu Miu, Jonathan Simkai, Prada, Tommy Hilfiger and Trussardi. Key guests were dressed in these bespoke eveningwear designs at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, showcasing the endless possibilities of sustainable design to a global fashion audience – an ingenious tactic that paved the way for a socially responsible approach to red carpet glamour.
