The 5 Best Hublot Watches To Invest in Now

From the Spirit of Big Bang, to the Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow, we round up the five best Hublot watches to add to your wishlist

Founded in 1980 by Carlo Crocco, Hublot is a Swiss watchmaking maison that took its name from the French for ‘porthole’, reflecting the design of its first ever timepiece, which had a porthole-inspired silhouette. A pioneer in the sports watch arena, Hublot is known for its innovative blend of materials, which reflect its mantra and brand philosophy – ‘the art of fusion.’

In 2005, the maison launched its ‘Big Bang’ collection, which has gone on to become one of the most instantly recognisable Hublot designs, reimagined many times over to include sporty features such as exposed screws, a rubber strap, and durable materials such as ceramic and titanium. The brand is known for its big and bold case sizes, with Big Bang designs ranging from 42-44mm.

Here, Bazaar Arabia rounds up five key timepieces that will make an astute investment to any devotees of the sports-luxe aesthetic.

The Spirit of Big Bang 32mm

Inspired by the maison’s iconic and original Big Bang collection, the Spirit of Big Bang draws on similar design codes, but features a tonneau-shaped case. The watch was launched in 2014 and has since been reinterpreted in many guises, but it’s diamond dial editions some of its most opulent designs. The watch embodies all of Hublot’s ambition to blend innovative materials with eye-catching silhouettes, and the collection often features titanium, ceramic, King Gold, and carbon fibre, with a skeletonised dial to allow admiration of its intricate movement.

Big Bang Unico Pink Sapphire

The Big Bang Unico Pink Sapphire is an unashamedly bold timepiece – its case is made of polished pink sapphire crystal, complemented by a perfectly colour matched pink strap and pink details on the hour markers and hands. This is a sizeable watch – measuring 42cm – so it isn’t for wallflowers, but is limited to just 100 pieces worldwide and demonstrates the maison’s dedication to innovation.

The Big Bang One Click

Hublot introduced its One-Click system in 2016, allowing the strap of the watch to be changed at the push of one simple button. Offering rubber, leather and textile strap options, the Big Bang One Click is one of the maison’s most versatile timepieces, available in steel, or ‘King Gold’ – Hublot’s custom gold alloy.

Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire

Hublot’s synthetic sapphire cases are one of its greatest feats of engineering, allowing the wearer to enjoy the full view of the watch’s movement, while also protecting it. The Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire watch retains the signature tanneau-shaped case of the original Spirit of Big Bang timepiece, and is presented on a white rubber strap.

MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow

HUBLOT has partnered with Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami to create a remarkable first – the artist’s signature smiling flower is brought to life with rainbow sapphires and fitted with HUBLOT’s first central tourbillon movement. This watch is limited to just 20 pieces worldwide and features no fewer than 444 sapphires.
