Miss Lebanon: The Hidden Meaning Behind The Cedar Of Hope Crown

Designed by Mouawad, best known for crafting the Miss Universe crown, the famed Lebanese jeweller made its Miss Lebanon debut over the weekend

From supermodels to celebrities, Mouawad has been crafting jewellery for A-Listers for years, sponsoring some of the most glamorous events around the world. The house – which happens to be a five-time Guinness World Record holder – has had a longstanding partnership with the Miss Universe Organization, having designed each crown since the 2019 pageant.

Now, this year, it can also boast that the Miss Lebanon 2024 crown is one of its masterpieces: the Cedar of Hope was unveiled on Saturday evening when winner Nada Koussa was crowned by Miss Lebanon 2022 Yasmina Zaytoun.

In an interview with LBCI, Pascal Mouawad, a co-guardian of the brand, talks about the Cedar of Hope crown and reflects on its meaning and relation to Lebanon. He also was asked why Mouawad decided to design the crown for Miss Lebanon, in which he expressed the national pride committed to promoting the Lebanese culture. He then went on to congratulate Nada and shared his hopes of Miss Lebanon being crowned Miss Universe in the following year.

Designed by jewellery designer, Robert Mouawad, the Cedar of Hope crown is bejewelled with red, white, and green gemstones symbolising the colours of the Lebanese flag.

The gemstones are made from rubellite, emerald, and diamond. The national cedar tree which embodies enduring strength and optimism is depicted with green gems in the center of the headpiece.

The adorned crown is a sign of hope to the Lebanese people and is dedicated to the indestructible spirits of the Lebanese people.

Pascal also stated that the message of the Cedar of Hope is “the youth stay strong… We will get out of this crisis, and we will get stronger than ever, be resilient… be hopeful, the future is bright”
