This Online Luxury Retailer Wants To Help You Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

Last week, online luxury retailer Farfetch rolled out a fashion footprint tool to guide its customers toward being more mindful of the environmental impacts of their purchases. The tool also gives shoppers insight into the benefits of incorporating pre-owned purchases within their wardrobes.

The tool delves into the ‘material impact’ aspect of the purchase, helping the customer understand the long term effect of the items they're planning to buy. The most common materials such as linen, polyester, nylon, viscose, silk, leather, cotton and wool are all listed. Ultimately, customers can add the specific number of pre-owned items on the tool and calculate their total environmental ‘savings’.

As part of the luxury retailer’s initiative, Positively Farfetch exemplifies their mission to be the global platform for sustainability in luxury fashion – empowering everyone they work with to think, act and choose positively.

Items listed with the Positively Conscious tag have either been rated well by Good On You, an independent ethical rating agency, or is made with materials or certifications widely recognised as conscious.
