Lacoste Has Launched A New Polo In Support Of COVID-19 Volunteers

As the world has been hit by a global pandemic, healthcare workers around the world have  been working tirelessly in the fight against COVID-19. In celebration of their efforts, Lacoste has launched a limited-edition solidarity Polo shirt.

The L12.12 Polo Merci has hearts around the iconic emblem, as a thank you to the unfailing commitment of frontline workers during these trying times.

“Reinterpreting the iconic Lacoste polo shirt by wrapping it in a simple red heart seemed to us the best way to show our admiration for those committed to saving lives during this pandemic,” Lacoste creative director Louise Trotter said.

Thanks to the voluntary commitment of its employees, Lacoste has made more than 200,000 fabric masks in its factories in France and Argentina since the start of March; almost all of them have been distributed to local authorities to ensure proper protect is distributed within the communities.

"This solidarity action illustrates how fashion can, at its own level, act in solidarity to serve the most exposed people,” Lacoste CEO Thierry Guibert said.

Proceeds from the sale of Lacoste’s L12.12 Polo Merci will be donated to the Lacoste Fund. The fund was created in 2020 with the purposes of developing and bringing structure to the brand’s social actions. It currently focuses on issues related to the novel coronavirus pandemic, and once the health crisis is over it plans to shift its focus back to its original mission: to help and guide young people to create a responsible future together, in partnership with Lacoste.

Lacoste's L12.12 Polo Merci retails at Dhs550 and is available in Mall of the Emirates, Dubai, and Red Sea Mall, Jeddah, and at
