How This Mentorship Programme Supports Upcoming Fashion Start-Ups In KSA

In collaboration with Instagram, Chalhoub Group’s Greenhouse initiative will provide upcoming fashion businesses with the training, guidance and support required to accelerate growth

The Greenhouse by Chalhoub Group has teamed up with Instagram to launch a programme dedicated to supporting and mentoring various fashion start-ups in Saudi Arabia. Fashion Lab will provide these upcoming businesses with all the necessary skills and resources to meet their goals and accelerate growth over a five-month timeline.

“Small businesses are the heartbeat of the Instagram community as Instagram remains the destination where people come to discover new talents and brands and purchase products, especially in Fashion & Beauty.  During the pandemic, we focused on helping businesses thrive – telling their story and providing them with the tools to sell and flourish on the platform. And today, through Fashion Lab, we are reinforcing this commitment in Saudi Arabia, working with a like-minded, community-oriented Group, such as Chalhoub, to pool our knowledge, experience and resources to help five promising fashion brands scale up their business, build strong brands in the Kingdom, and scale their reach beyond the region,” says Anna Germanos, Head of Consumer-Packaged Goods, Retail and E-commerce for MENA, at Meta.

This initiative was developed by Chalhoub Greenhouse’s successful Fashion Lab programme that launched earlier this year to support entrepreneurship and innovation amongst fashion start-ups. Now the company is back with another exciting opportunity for all entrepreneurs and new businesses owners in the Kingdom.

“Saudi Arabia has a fast-evolving fashion ecosystem driven by its young population and its amazing pool of talented designers. The Greenhouse launched the Fashion Lab earlier this year with an ambition of supporting and encouraging this ecosystem of great entrepreneurs and accelerating this truly home-grown entrepreneurial culture dedicated to the fashion industry and at the same time contributing to our own brands and concepts that serve our local customer. We believe that we can create the biggest impact through partnerships and concerted collective efforts.  We are excited to join forces with Instagram on this initiative that will have long-term positive impact in promoting innovation and developing young fashion champions from the Kingdom for the world,” mentions Dina Sidani, Chief innovation officer, Chalhoub Group.

This year’s Fashion Lab programme has begun with five new businesses on board: eco-conscious eyewear by Cones and Rods, bags by Dania Shinkar, and ready-to-wear brands Noms, Proud Angeles, and Kaf by Kaf.

These designers will receive guidance on how to grow their existing operations strategically, along with an immersive training experience that will convey the ins and outs of marketing and retailing on digital and social media. Additionally, to truly complete the experience, Instagram will also offer workshops on working with content creators, media reporting, marketing, content creation, and more, an opportunity like no other.

If that wasn’t enough to get you excited, popular Saudi-based creators Abdullah Al Jumah, Abdullah Bakr, Elias Setta, and Lamia Al-Maliki are appointed the new brand ambassadors, that will be on board supporting the designers during the entire agenda.
