When is The Next Public Holiday in The UAE?

If you are looking to plan your annual leave and vacations for the rest of the year, here is everything you need to know about upcoming breaks

Last year, a total of 14 public holidays were announced by authorities for both public and private sector employees.

From the Eid Al Adha break that residents enjoyed an extended weekend for to the upcoming days off in store for workers, here are all the details.

When is The Next Public Holiday in The UAE?

Islamic New Year is expected to fall this week and in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) announced that the holiday for the occasion will be on Sunday, July 7.

“The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that Sunday, 7th of July (1st Muharram), will be an official paid public holiday for all private sector establishments in the UAE in celebration of the new Hijri year 1446 AH,” read the MOHRE post.

As many UAE residents and employees already enjoy a Saturday and Sunday weekend, they are looking into when the next break that potential mean an extended weekend will take place.

Commemoration Day is expected to fall on Sunday December 1, which will be celebrated with a break on Monday, December 2 and Tuesday, December 3. This would be an extended weekend and also mark the last public holidays of the year.

As for 2025, the UAE authorities have also announced the holidays for next year.

From the announcement that came in late May, it looks like residents will be enjoying at least 12 holidays in 2025.

New Year’s Day is expected to be off on January 1. Whereas, the Eid Al Fitr break is predicted to take place on March 31 to April 2.

Next would be the Arafat Day break from May 30 to June 2 as well as the Islamic New Year being celebrated on June 27.

The Prophet Mohammed’s birthday is marked on September 1. As for the last public holidays for the year, the Commemoration Day and National Day break is expected to take place from December 1 to 3.
