Introducing Papillon: Layla Kardan’s New Cabaret Concept Opens in Dubai With Plenty of Pizzazz
The award-winning artist has teamed up with the American choreographer Denise Faye to create a new dinner and show concept like no other…
From posing for the prestigious house of Gucci to serenading the region with her sweet alternative pop ballads, renowned Dubai-based singer-songwriter and content creator Layla Kardan has just unveiled her latest venture, weaving elegance and prestige together in a mesmerising new dinner and show concept.
This past Friday, Papillon opened its doors at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, as VIP guests were welcomed to experience sensational performances, paired with a world-class menu in a vibrant cabaret-inspired setting.

“When we initially started talking about this project there were limited dinner-and-show concepts available in town. I feel there is more of an appetite for a theatrical night out, and as an artist, this is healthy for the industry,” Layla said.
But what exactly is Papillon?
Designed to offer a multi-sensory experience with its visually pleasing decors, five-star food menu and a star-studded list of guests, Papillon will display some of the region’s highest calibre of arts, style and gastronomy.

“I dreamt of creating a space like this since I was a little girl. My childhood visions and aspirations have come to life through the hard work and efforts of an extraordinary team of professionals and the support and trust of The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Spa,” Layla noted.
Inviting the people of Dubai to embark on a chic and sensual journey for a handful of hours, the venue welcomes skilled and talented performers from New York, Paris, Milan and Argentina while exploring the realm of fashion in style in a setting quite like no other.

Worldwide acclaimed choreographer Denise Faye has been working alongside Layla to perfect dance routines, while Roham Shamkeh, famed architect and interior designer – best known for his work with brands such as Roberto Cavalli and Versace – and Head Chef Tiger, who has bought his team over from the 2-star Michelin Robuchon in Taipei to head up Papillon dining, have also been tapped to be part of the team.
“Having Denise Faye at the helm of this project has been the greatest blessing. I have always been a fan of her incredible work and performances in Chicago and Burlesque and now I get to work alongside her, which is also a dream come true. Words cannot express the deep respect and adoration I have for her. She is the most professional woman I have ever worked with,” Layla said.
“What we are doing here is special – we have a story to tell and a message that rings loud and clear – without divulging too much, I encourage everyone to come and experience first-hand the incredible talent we have gracing the stage and of course me, waiting for all the amazing people who support me consistently on my music journey, from venue to venue. Now, I am here permanently and not going anywhere and can’t wait to see all the faces I’ve missed so much.”
Recognised for her incessant will and desire to always push the borders of culture forward, Layla Kardan co-created a dining experience that stands out in a city with an increasingly demanding and discerning crowd. Papillon knows how to satisfy any of your cravings by welcoming leading international and regional figures to spoil you for a night out quite like no other.
Papillon will be open to the public to book from 23rd November
