UAE Private Sector Ramadan Working Hours: What Are They?

A statement released by the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) confirms private sector hours

If you are wondering how your day in the office will look like in Ramadan, the UAE government announced work timings during the holy month.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the UAE released a statement declaring a reduction of two working hours per day for all employees in the private sector.

The Ministry said: “In accordance with the requirements and nature of their work, companies may apply flexible or remote work patterns within the limits of the daily working hours during Ramadan.”

Private Sector Ramadan Working Hours: What are they in the UAE?

Earlier, the UAE government had announced the Ramadan working times for public sector employees.

The Islamic holy month will see all ministries and federal entities operating from 9am to 2.30pm from Monday to Thursday, and for three hours from 9am to 12pm on Fridays.

When does Ramadan 2024 start in the UAE, KSA, and GCC? When will confirmed dates be announced?

According to various sources, Ramadan 2024 is expected to start on Monday, March 11, or Tuesday, March 12, 2024 for many GCC countries including the UAE.

Back on February 10, the UAE’s International Astronomy Center announced the sighting of the Sha’ban crescent moon, which usually means Ramadan is four weeks away from that date.

The official start date of Ramadan is typically announced when countries’ respective moon sighting committees (which are made up of religious leaders and astronomers) spot the crescent moon, which marks the beginning of the Holy Month — meaning an official announcement for the start of Ramadan 2024 won’t be revealed until closer to the dates of March 9, 2024 or March 10.
