The Countdown Is On! Here’s Your Invite To World of Fashion 2021

From celebrity appearances to talks with some of the industry’s most innovative designers, styling sessions, make-up masterclasses and much more, Bazaar shares all the highlights from the upcoming festivities here

The Future of Fashion; it’s a phrase that has been used for decades when exploring what dressing will look like in years to come. From what we’ll be wearing to how it’s made; trend forecasting to creative expression on the catwalk, industry experts all boast varied opinions when discussing the topic at hand, so often phrased as a loaded question: What exactly is the future of fashion?

Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and Mall of the Emirates will be exploring, unpacking and celebrating this elusive theme throughout this year’s World of Fashion, a five-day affair where some of the most brilliants minds from the region – and beyond – will be invited to debate, debacle and share their thoughts on the evolution of style, art and sustainability in a post “New Norm” era.

From talks with the industry’s most innovative designers to the Arab Woman Awards, make-up masterclasses, a children’s tea party and much more Bazaar shares a taste of what’s to come throughout the five-day festivities here…

Day One – Tuesday, October 12

The first day of World of Fashion will commence with a styling session by The Style Doctors with THAT Concept Store, followed by opening night festivities. Hosted by Harper’s Bazaar Arabia’s Deputy Editor, Jessica Michault, the inaugural invite-only event will include an on-stage talk with Parisienne design duo Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant of Coperni, followed by the premiere of Italian filmmaker Mattia Holm’s bespoke fashion film, highlighting this year’s World of Fashion theme – but with a twist.

Day Two – Wednesday, October 13

The second day will begin with a Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Breakfast that will commence in the morning. Afterwards, styling experts from CH Carolina Herrera will take the stage, as they present a masterclass inspired by the legendary Venezuelan-American designer, followed by the Arab Woman Awards (AWA). This year’s ceremony will honour the formidable women from the region who are championing sustainable initiatives and fostering a workplace that is conducive to women’s advancement, along with gender balance, in the world force. Winners will be selected by AWA’s board members, which is made up of experts from a variety of sectors and fields – including H.H. Sheikha Maytha Hasher Al Maktoum, founder of BeYou Boutique, and UN Women Regional Director for the Arab States’ Susanne Mikhail Eldhagen – along with former awardees.

Day Three – Thursday, October 14

From a Fenty Beauty masterclass to a live talk on stage with one of the region’s best-loved streetwear designers, the third day of World of Fashion will continue to focus on all aspects of the future of fashion and beauty. After experts from the Rihanna-founded make-up share a few tips and tricks, along with a sneak peak at the new holiday collection inspired by the Gloss Bomb range, Harvey Nichols will then take over World of Fashion with a styling session. And lastly, LES BENJAMINS founder Bunyamin Aydin will take the stage to discuss the art of casual dressing and the future of streetwear.

Day Four – Friday, October 15

Luxury perfumers Penhaligon’s will start the day with a fragrance masterclass, followed by a very special event just for the little ones: the children’s tea party that will include an insight into the Burberry Kids, D&G Kids and Jacadi collections, hosted by Dubai-based entrepreneur and mother-of-three, Maha Gorton. In the evening, Andrea Brocca, the world’s youngest couturier, will join Olivia Phillips in conversation, as they explore the evolution of haute couture and bespoke fashion’s place in a post COVID-19 world.

Day Five – Saturday, October 16

The last day of World of Fashion will commence with a Gucci masterclass, as beauty experts from the Italian fashion house break down some of the season’s biggest make-up trends as seen on the catwalk.

Digital artists Marina Fedorova and Kristel Bechara will then discuss how Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and virtual art are shaping the artistic landscapes, before celebrity fine jeweller Maria Tash shares her thoughts on self-expression, the future of piercing and accessorising like a Hollywood A-Lister.
