In what appears to be a joke gone wrong (or internet trolls gone wild), the hashtag #RIPJimmyFallon is currently trending across the platform – and some users seem particularly bamboozled as to why.
While the American comedian seems to be understandably annoyed at the piece of misinformation spreading in the form of a hashtag, some netizens clearly find the viral hashtag quite amusing and have created posts with other comedians’ images (Mike Myers, Andy Samberg and James Corden, to name a few)…

So… Why is #RIPJimmyFallon Trending on Twitter?
At the moment, it appears a number of users on the platform are trolling the comedian, clearly having a bit of a laugh.
Last week Twitter laid off a sizeable chunk of its workforce, culling its entire content curation team – a department that is largely responsible for what’s visible within a user’s Explore feed. The content moderation teams were also affected which, presumably, could lead to misinformation becoming widely visible across the platform (i.e. making #RIPJimmyFallon go viral.)
