Wickedly Off-Duty: Ariana Grande And Cynthia Erivo Trade Costumes For Couture
The Broadway icons, Elphaba and Glinda swap green and pink for Prada and Gilbert Adrian
As winter breezes in, and the days grow shorter, the season of Christmas festivities draws nearer. Adding to the magic, Wicked returns to sprinkle its signature sparkle one last time. Showcasing on November 21, the final part of the Broadway adaptation duology, Wicked: For Good, is set to cast its spell on audiences in theatres.
In celebration of their upcoming showcase – on November 10 – the cast made a grand arrival at the London premiere of Wicked: Foor Good, with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo dressed in Prada; a glamourous departure from their iconic green and pink hues.
Styled by Law Roach, Ariana embraced a vintage Gilbert Adrian gown, paying homage to the 1952 design. The designer is also famous for the costume craft of The Wizard of Oz, adding a emotional significance to her look. Her ensemble featured a one-shoulder silhouette, draped down in sequins. She completed the look with her slicked-back bun and a Swarovski neck piece, honouring her ambassadorship of the brand.
Curated by Jason Bolden, Cynthia graced the carpet in a Prada dress featuring a bold, sculpted bodice, tied together at the waist with a belt, and a floor-sweeping skirt. The gown was accentuated by PVC-style panels on the skirt, straps, and detachable sleeves while she accessorised the look with Roberto Coin jewellery.
Together, the talents combined midnight blue and black palettes, evoking modern, striking glamour to honour their two-time Oscar-winning musical.
Marc Platt, Producer, took to the stage at the Odeon Luxe, Leicester Square and said, “it feels like we’re coming home, and as you know, there’s no place like home. The house of these Wicked films was built, brick by brick, by the heart of an extraordinary filmmaker filled with imagination and talent and craft and humanity.”
