SATC Actor Willie Garson Has Passed Away At The Age of 57

Best-known for playing the role of Stanford Blatch — Carrie Bradshaw’s best friend — in the HBO series, films and spin-off show, And Just Like That, his death was confirmed by his son in the early house of Wednesday morning

One of television’s most beloved characters has passed away, as it was revealed in the early hours of Wednesday morning that American actor Willie Garson had died, reportedly after losing his battle with cancer.

The fifty-seven-year-old actor was best-known for playing the role of Carrie Bradshaw’s best friend, Stanford Blatch, in the hit series SATC; his son, Nathen Garson, confirmed the news in an Instagram post.

“I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace, and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much. I’m so proud of you,” he wrote within the caption of the post. “I will always love you, but I think it’s time for you to go on an adventure of your own. You’ll always be with me. Love you more than you will ever know, and I’m glad you can be at peace now. You always were the toughest and funniest, and smartest person I’ve known. I’m glad you shared your love with me. I’ll never forget it or lose it.”

While the official cause of death has yet to be confirmed, this news has caused a storm on the internet as everyone is shocked with incident.

HBO posted a heartfelt message on Instagram a few hours ago in honour of the wonderful actor, writing “Willie Garson was in life, as on-screen, a devoted friend and a bright light for everyone in his universe. He created one of the most beloved characters from the HBO pantheon and was a member of our family for nearly 25 years. We are deeply saddened to learn of his passing and extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.”

According to The Guardian, the executive producer of the television series announced that it had been known Garson was not well. The actor was recently spotted shooting the SATC reboot series And Just Like That. The show, which is currently still in production, is scheduled to air by the end of the year.
