Luxury brand Bang & Olufsen is known for its extensive array of audio products always dressed in a sleek contemporary design. Amidst the 15th-century walls of the Ca d’Oro palazzo in Venice the brand launched the one product that has long been absent from its riveting array of audio objects: soundbars. The new Beosound Stage is B&O’s first ever soundbar and it’s been designed in collaboration with Danish firm NORM architects in a way that it is visually alluring to any viewer. The launch underlines Bang & Olufsen’s commitment to design and sound innovation, crafted with the ambition of creating deep and powerful sound—sound that is akin to a cinematic experience from one single speaker.

“We created Beosound Stage as a powerful soundbar that doesn’t rely on a subwoofer or satellites to create an immersive experience,” says Christoffer Østergaard Poulsen, Vice President of Product Management at Bang & Olufsen. “The first time you hear Beosound Stage, the impact of the deep, powerful sound hits you immediately, and the simple minimalistic Scandinavian design makes it stand out like a piece of furniture. It is simply clean, elegant and powerful.”

The soundbar, like all of B&O’s products, boasts simple geometric lines made with natural materials for products that offer meaning and beauty to any space. “We decided on Venice for the launch because there is a long tradition in Venice of artists, designers, explorers and craftsmen,” said John Mollanger, CEO of B&O PLAY. “When there is this conflict between design and craft as takes place with a technological object we feel it pushes the designer further in his or her creation. Each product must be individually beautiful and appreciated for more than its audio function.”

When you behold the soundbar’s design you see a beautiful and elegant frame made in natural aluminum and bronze with smoked oak. The frame runs around the speaker and includes an engraved sensory control panel. And there’s more, the speaker has no visible seams owing from the natural and bronze tone frames that are made from a single piece of forged aluminum.

The power of the soundbar is that it fades away into the interior of the space as much as it can be the standout object in a room. As Mollanger says, “A good testament to the beauty of its design is that someone who doesn’t even like music should look at the objects and think how much they like it.” bang-olufsen.com
