Abu Dhabi Is Hosting A Beach Clean Up For World Cleanup Day

On 21 September, Aldar is inviting all members of the public to give back to the planet by participating in the biggest civic action against pollution and waste in the UAE for World Cleanup Day.

This year’s cleanup drive is scheduled to take place at both Aldar’s Reem Central Park and Al Muneera Beach Plaza in Abu Dhabi, from 5pm to 7pm on Saturday evening. The environmentally-conscious initiative is aiming to promote a cleaner and healthier planet by ridding the capital of illegally disposed solid waste.

The eco-event is open to a limited number of volunteers - participants are encouraged to register online here if they wish to help out at Reem Central Park, and here if they wish to join the clean-up activity at Al Muneera Beach Plaza.

The venues will be open from 3pm, giving volunteers the chance to collect their induction packs, accompanied by their Cleaning Day Toolkit, which includes a t-shirt, gloves and cleanup bags.

World Cleanup Day first began in 2008 in Estonia, where fifty-thousand people united to clean up the whole country in just five hours. This inspirational and ambitious ‘one country, one day’ formula soon motivated people to follow suit – the result was the birth of a brand new global movement, putting the needs of the environment first. Eleven years later, the idea has grown into a globally endorsed, environmentally-conscious movement with millions of volunteers and leaders working towards the same goal of creating a more sustainale future.
