I like to begin my day with extreme quiet and no distractions, so I normally wake up super early in the morning. The first thing I always do is make myself a coffee (I probably drink about eight coffees a day) and spend some time on my roof terrace garden in New York City watering my flowers and appreciating the sunrise before answering emails and doing some social media admin. Instagram is definitely my most heavily used app.

I normally give myself about an hour and a half to shower and to get ready before I leave the house. My grooming routine begins with a Neutrogena cleanser that my dermatologist recommended, before moisturising. Sometimes, perhaps I’ll even include an exfoliator in the mix.

When I’m at work, it’s not unusual that I have to be photographed or filmed. If that’s the case, I like to apply the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, a little bit of concealer and the iconic Laura Mercier translucent setting powder – something I use consistently when I’m working as well, it’s my absolute hero product. The Flawless Fusion concealer, Camouflage concealer the new translucent setting powder glow are a few of my other current favourites when I’m creating beautiful make-up looks for women.

Photo and video shoots can last a long time so, another beauty secret of mine is to apply Vaseline or lip balm on the cheeks and face to make them look fresh and glowing. A lot of people are surprised when I tell them about this trick, but it’s really effective.

I love to have music on while I’m working. It gets me in the mood and really helps to inspire me – I often find it even makes me work better. My go-to soundtracks range from chart hits and pop music to nineties R’n’B and Hip-Hop – I have a pretty eclectic taste.

For lunch – or any other mealtime really – I try to be as healthy as possible. But, my ultimate guilty pleasure is junk food!

One of the things I love about my job, is that I’m privileged enough to work with such esteemed and inspiring people each day. It’s so empowering and invigorating to be around those kinds of people. A job like mine does come with some sacrifices though. The constant travelling is a challenge for me as it’s so rare that I get any time to spend at home. Though I’m in my nineteenth year of my career and am very much used to it, I still have those occasional cravings for my own space. That said, I do feel at home in Paris. It’s my favourite place to go for work. I’m also obsessed with Cuba. I travelled there recently and I’m still not over it. It was utterly beautiful and so incredibly inspiring. I honestly still think about it every single day.

Lots of long-haul flights can be pretty unforgiving on the skin; tiredness, dehydration and so on. A good tip I’ve learned for looking fresh when jet-lagged is layering two concealers; the Laura Mercier Camouflage Concealer underneath the eyes and inner corners, followed by a layer of the Flawless Fusion Concealer. The Flawless Fusion is one of the only concealers on the market that doesn’t crease into fine lines. Women always ask me: “How can I prevent my concealer from getting into the fine lines? They look worse when I apply concealer!” It’s the one product I constantly find myself telling everyone about for this very reason. If you haven’t tried it, it’s a must.

If I’m not working, it’s rare you’ll find me out shopping, I really don’t like it at all. When it comes to my own personal style, there are certain brands I go to, but I think that’s very much out of comfort. I know what I like and what suits me, so I know I can get the job done relatively quickly at certain stores. I’m not a huge fan of dressing up and much prefer to be casual and comfortable in jeans and sneakers (if I had the option to just wear sweatpants, a T-shirt and a hat every day, I totally would!) so brands like Diesel are perfect for me. For shoes and sneakers I love Adidas, YSL and Yeezy.

I’m an extreme homebody. Don’t get me wrong, I love going to dinners and events, but my favourite thing in the whole world is spending an evening at home watching TV or YouTube in my pyjamas. But if I do have to get dressed up for events and so on, I’ll go for a YSL or Givenchy jacket ensemble but I’m not a fussy person at all when it comes to getting ready.

The last thing I do before I go to sleep is watch a documentary. I used to be big on reality TV but I’ve really been getting into documentaries of late. I like things I can learn from and there are some great real-life stories and political pieces on YouTube. I usually fall asleep during though, with my phone in my hand!
