Celebrities Jump To Meghan Markle’s Defence After Latest Press Attack

Ellen Degeneres and Pink are just some of the celebrities that have taken to social media to show their support for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex

The British royals – who have come under fire this week for taking a private jet to stay with Elton John in Nice for the weekend – have been scrutinised in the media and Instagram ‘trolls’ leaving nasty comments on their social posts.

Chat show host Ellen wrote on her Twitter that she “met Prince Harry and Meghan in England to talk about their work on wildlife conservation. They were the most down-to-earth, compassionate people. Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you’re trying to do is make the world better.”

Pink also weighed in on the controversy. “I’m happy to see people coming to the defense of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” she says on Twitter. “The way people treat her is the most public form of bullying I have seen in a while. It’s out of control. Let’s all be a bit kinder, huh? Let’s show our children that it’s cool to be kind.”

Elton John, whom Harry and Meghan took the private jet to visit, addressed the accusations. The Rocket Man signer said he was “deeply distressed” by the “distorted and malicious account in the press surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

“I wanted the young family to have a private holiday inside the safety and tranquility of our home. To maintain a high level of much-needed protection, we provided them with a private jet flight.”
