This week, Dior transformed Dubai’s public park into a circus to showcase their spring/summer 2019 Haute Couture collection. The brand’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri transformed her show space into a literal fairground, with lines of fairy lights strung from the ceiling, and guests sat on velvet benches laid out across the harlequin-patterned floor.
But it didn’t stop at the décor – nor the clothes, which saw 15 pieces full of references to jesters, ring leaders and Victorian-era clowns, designed exclusively for the Middle East. Peter Philips, Dior Makeup’s image and creative director, added a punk-meets-Pierrot touch to models’ faces.
Philips used not one but three eyeliners to create the graphic look, with bouts of graphic Diorshow On Stage Liner Crayon Eyeliner Waterproof Noir Trinidad and Diorshow Khôl smudged round the eyes and artfully styled into a harlequin effect.
Skin was kept simple, seamless and spotless with a lick of Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation, supplemented with a little DiorSkin Forever Undercover Concealer.
