The Brazilian influencer and businesswoman reveals the secrets to her beautiful life
With 7.2 million followers on Instagram and 3.3 million subscribers to her YouTube beauty channel, it’s little wonder that Camila Coelho is one of the most photographed influencers of our time. From closing Ralph & Russo’s S/S18 couture show, to debuting a dress by the same couturier at Cannes Film Festival last month, to the clickable beauty tutorials she began eight years ago, the 30-year-old Brazilian influencer, blogger and businesswoman ranks high for millennial #inspo.

Having fallen in love with beauty when working as a make-up artist in a department store, before working backstage for various fashion shows, it was in 2010 that she first clocked a YouTube make-up video, and thought, “I could be doing this, and sharing what I know with other girls.” From then, her own YouTube make-up tutorial channel was born, followed by a blog in April 2011. “I didn’t even know it could be my job one day,” she smiles, putting her success down to “authenticity, creating good content, communicating and being present for her followers. It’s about giving back.”
Her advice for those wishing to follow her path is threefold: “Have passion for what you’re doing so that you’re authentic and you build trust; Stay close to your followers, and be who you are so that they see the real you; And don’t rush into it – people today rush into things wanting to do everything and be everywhere. Take your time.” Here, we reveal the secrets to her beautiful life…

Camila in three words: Happy, loving and a dream chaser.
Nickname: My family used to call me Little Gum, because I’m always hugging my siblings or mum.
I once wanted to be: More on the artistic side, because my family always saw me dancing and choreographing routines in the living room. Being a Brazilian, we love to dance.
The best part of my job is: Creating content around what I love, which is fashion and beauty. I also get to travel the world and inspire people about always being positive and a good human being. Best part of the day: When I get to switch off and eat chocolate. After 7pm, my husband and I have a ‘no phone’ rule at home.

The hardest part of the job is: Not getting enough sleep. There’s a lot of work behind what I do. Sleeping four hours, running to shoots… It’s not the vacation that some people think.
In 10 years’ time I will be: A mum of at least two, I hope. And maybea designer with my own fashion and beauty brand.
Style icon: Audrey Hepburn, for her style and beauty, and the fact that she was a humanitarian. I love her. She is my muse.

Middle Eastern idol: I’m obsessed with Dalida, the Egyptian singer from the ’70s. I would also say Karen Wazen too – her style is amazing. She is someone I admire.
Middle Eastern style is: Extra, chic and glamorous, all in one. I was just in Dubai and I was so obsessed with the Middle East in general. We came back saying ‘habibi’ and ‘shukran’!
Favourite fashion memory: Two things… The first time I watched a couture show at Paris Fashion Week. It was Dior for S/S14. And then closing Ralph & Russo’s show as the bride in January at Haute Couture. It was a huge moment – I cried so much afterwards, it was very emotional.
Designer: Probably Maria Grazia Chiuri, because she’s such a strong woman. She makes clothes that fit my style, which is more feminine, but because she’s such a strong woman, she stands for other strong women.
Bag style: I love extra-large totes, but I’m really into small cross-body bags at the moment, which I probably have the most of.
Shoe obsession: Saint Laurent pumps. The last timeI was in Paris, I ended up getting three pairs. The new collection is amazing.
S/S18 buy: Bow sneakers. So many brands did them, like Balenciaga and they’re just the cutest thing. And also the mini J’Adior bags in metallic, they are super-cute too.
Trend: Pastels and lilac-coloured pieces. I’m very feminine so they speak to me.
Beauty is: Found within. If it doesn’t come from the inside, you won’t be happy with yourself, to look in the mirror and see your soul.
Arab beauty is: Impeccable – it was so amazing. I appreciate women who love putting make-up on, and the women in Dubai just looked like they have a filter on, I love that.
Key beauty products: I can’t live without the Caudalie Eau de Beaute mist, Dior’s Glow Lip Balm in different colours, my Givenchy Bronzer and Charlotte Tilbury’s highlighter.
Treatments: My favourite thing is a hydrafacial, because my skin dehydrates with all the travel.
Spa: The Dior Institut Spa at Plaza Athénée in Paris.
Apps: Instagram – of course! – Planoli to plan my feed, Lightroom for editing pictures and Spotify for music. Oh, and Candy Crush. I’m obsessed!

Music: Rihanna is my all-time favourite singer. I could listen to her all day every day. If Shine Bright Like a Diamond comes on when I’m on set, I’ll go crazy singing and I really can’t sing.
Film: The Notebook – I’ve watched it one hundred times and I’ve cried one hundred times. I love romantic films.
Guilty pleasures: Chocolate, whilst watching Netflix with my husband – specifically the big Lindt bars with hazelnut. Also coffee with cream and sugar.
Dream lunch date: Oprah! I would ask her 1,000 questions, like about starting a business. I need to go to lunch with Oprah. Can Bazaar make it happen, please! Let’s put it out there…
Neflix binge: Money Heist – it’s amazing.
Last person who called you: My brother on FaceTime with my nephew. Last WhatsApp: It was to my mum, saying that I miss her. I saw her three weeks ago, but I’m so close to her I wanted to let her know.
Who’d play you in a movie of your life: Angelina Jolie– for obvious reasons. She’s a beautiful human being and she cares. I love her as an actress and a human.
Greatest satisfaction: Setting and accomplishing goals.
Best party: My 30th birthday party in Paris this year. It was during Paris Fashion Week, so everyone was there, and we threw a party at Hotel Plaza Athénée, with the biggest cake and the best music. We danced until 4am.
Signature dish: My favourite food is Brazilian, but my signature dish to cook is pasta Alfredo. My husband loves it.
City: Paris, but it’s hard because I’m also now obsessed with Dubai and Lebanon.
Hotel: Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris. I’m so spoiled there and it has the best service, food and views.

Restaurant: In Dubai we ate so well, so my two new favourites are La Cantine du Faubourg [at Emirates Towers] and Scalini [at Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach]. In fact, Scalini is probably my favourite restaurant in the world – we did a pasta tasting and it was amazing.
Holiday destination: My favourite place is Fernando de Noronha, a beautiful island in Brazil. But we’re also looking to go to the Maldives, so we’ll definitely stop in Dubai again.
What to pack: I always carry a medallion my mother gave me, as I have faith that it protects me, and also a denim jacket from Mother Denim or a leather jacket from Dior.
