Explore Dubai: The Textile, Gold And Spice Souk
Rosemin Manji and Sara Al Madani take us on a trip through one of the most authentic parts of the city
Today we’re in the heart of Dubai, where it all began some 46 years old. The textile, gold and spice souks are the traditional markets that were once the old trading centre of Dubai. Accessible via the creek by abra boats, we visit all the hidden gems selling unique materials, from raw silk to coloured cotton reels, and one-of-a-kind jewellery shops, selling Dubai’s iconic raw pearls plus yellow gold and silver. DSF’s highly anticipated Infiniti Mega Raffle is back, offering you the chance to drive away in a brand-new Infiniti QX60 and take home AED150,000 cash every single day. Buy your ticket at the Gold Souk metro station on 54 Al Khor Street.
Spread over 1.8km is the charming Al Seef, which is tucked away on the banks of Dubai’s creek. The new development in the city’s heritage district will be putting on a firework display every weekend at 8.30pm until 26 January with the final fireworks being set off at 9pm on 27 January. The retail space also boasts an array of live street entertainment through the DSF, including light stilt walkers, plate spinners, musicians, gymnasts, acrobats, dancers and plenty more.
