Beauty Diaries: Melanie Meyer On How To Master The No-Make-Up Make-Up Look
Dubai-based German-French make-up artist Melanie talks us through her beauty-kit essentials and serious love of all things Sisley Paris…
MAKE-UP &Â FRAGRANCE
Favourite make-up brand: Sisley Paris, for its avant-garde technology. Its fabulous new botanical make-up line helps the skin to better defend itself against environmental stressors – how amazing is that?
Foundation / concealer: My go-to foundation for shoots is Armani Luminous Silk (Dhs245). It has a smooth, slightly dewy finish and is buildable. It also suits most skin 5 types which is crucial for me when it comes to choosing foundations for my make-up kit. My absolute favourite concealer is Estée Lauder’s brilliant Flawless Wear Concealer (Dhs125).
Go-to lip colour: It has to be Gucci Rouge à Lèvres in Voile (Dhs140). For a matte look, I would go for Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet.
Mascara: For a bit of drama, I absolutely love Burberry Cat Lashes Mascara. If I want to go for a more natural look, my favourite is Sisley So Intense (Dhs185).
Signature scent: Dior Poison (Dhs575) is the perfume I’ve worn for the past 20 years. I have tried so many but I always go back to it and it’s become my trademark scent.
Signature make-up hack: My absolute favourite make-up hack is the soft-contour lip which is achieved by dabbing over the outline of the lips after applying any bold colour. I love the effect as it gives a really modern look and it just makes the lips look super full.

HAIR
Treatments: I like to give my hair a little extra treatment every now and then. I use a really pure, undiluted organic argan oil from the brand Jumeirah Oasis.
Favourite products: Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray is fantastic (Dhs170).

SKIN & BODY
Skincare routine: My morning essentials are Evian Thermal Water Spray, Skinceuticals Vitamin C Serum (Dhs310) and Sisley Confort Extreme Lèvres. In the evening I use La Roche-Posay Toleriane Face Wash, SkinMedica Retinol Complex and I also put Vaseline on my eyelashes and eyebrows which thickens them!
Moisturiser: Sisley Sisleya (Dhs1,850) is my go-to.
Manicure: The Nail Spa and I love a nude or red.

INTERVENTION
Attitude to injectables: A very good question. I am personally not against any form of injectables but would rather a more natural way, which is my kind of aesthetic.
Best Cosmetic Dermatologist: Biolite in Jumeirah.
Future intervention: I do believe in ageing in a graceful way and I would like to try skin-tightening laser treatments in the future.
DIET & FITNESS
Food intolerances: I am following a plant-based diet during the week and have some fish or eggs on the weekends.
Workout method: I trained my dog to run with me in the mornings. I also like to swim and do Calisthenics.
Guilty food pleasures: Chocolate! My favourites would be Bateel chocolates and Lindt 70% dark.
Beverage preference: Coffee, although tea is much better for me.
Breakfast: Chia seeds and oats with coconut milk.
