With a scent good enough to eat, it’s no wonder that Aveda’s freshly-launched Cherry Almond range sold out in the U.S.

The smell alone is enough to send you into a heady dream-like state, and the shampoo and conditioner’s efficacy is the cherry on the cake. It promises to soften hair, and it delivers. Thanks to a new and highly improved formula, stray hairs are settled and smoothed, and hair is left shiny and soft.

Aveda launched in 1978 with a mission to promote and develop sustainability using the highest quality plant ingredients without impacting the environment. It was in fact a line of Cherry Almond bark hair products that was included in one of Aveda’s very first releases, created by the brand’s founder Horst Rechelbacher. It remained a steadfast staple for the 30 years that followed. The line was discontinued in 2008, but is back with an intoxicating bang and Aveda devotees are falling over themselves to get their hands on it (there was a waitlist of thousands when launched this summer in the US).

So what is it about this sweet-smelling duo that makes it so irresistible? Well, firstly it is completely free of silicones, parabens, mineral oils and phthalates. Everything it is made up of it is naturally-derived – even that glorious potent fragrance. The oh-so-sweet Cherry Almond scent is crafted with natural flower and plant essences (38 to be precise), with no synthetic materials. What’s more, the line is entirely vegan so you can bet your bottom dirham that it is cruelty free, as well as being sustainably produced using wind power and renewable energy.
