How old do you have to be to get a nose job? Bazaar Arabia asks Dr. Dany Kayle, Cosmetic Surgeon and Founder of Dr. Kayle Aesthetic Clinic for his expert opinion…
We all have insecurities, parts about our bodies we wish to change, some of us eventually outgrowing out of them, learning to live and love our flaws and embracing what makes us truly unique – but this often takes a few years of patience, wisdom and self-courage. And that period of time before we accept ourselves and our individuality can often become one of the most difficult chapters within our lives.
Many teenagers around the world have pleaded with their parents to allow them to alter their physical appearance in some capacity – be it with a new haircut, an extra piercing or… a more permanent solution when it comes to fitting in with ideal beauty standards.

And with A-list celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Katy Perry and Courteney Cox speaking candidly about cosmetically altering their own respective appearances, talking freely about cosmetic surgery is no longer taboo. Bella Hadid is the latest celebrity to admit that, after years of speculation, she too has has “work done”; which, of course, begs the question about whether or not there is a right time in life to have cosmetic surgery – including rhinoplasty (commonly called a nose job), a procedure often coveted by young people who grapple with the growing pains of maturing into their adult features.
So… is there a “right” age when it comes to opting for rhinoplasty? While laws regarding cosmetic surgery may vary per country, and some doctors may still perform the procedure on teens, one Dubai-based cosmetic surgeon shares his expert opinion…
How Old Do You Have To Be To Get A Nose Job?
According to Dr. Dany Kayle, Founder of Dr. Kayle Aesthetic Clinic, nose jobs should not be performed on anyone in their teens.
“I would never perform a rhinoplasty on anyone under the age of 18,” he tells Bazaar Arabia. “The reason for this is that the cartilage in the nose has not finished growing yet, so you are cutting away cartilage when you have only an estimation (not a completely defined picture) of what the adult nose will be when the person has finished growing. It is not advisable at all to undertake any cosmetic surgery until you reach adulthood, which is recognised as 18 years of age.”
While it can be tough to weather the storm that so often comes with adolescence, Dr. Kayle advises teens to wait until adulthood before surgically altering their appearances.
