A Letter From The Editor | Harper’s Bazaar Arabia Bride A/W20
With the return of weddings and events in the UAE, Nina Catt introduces the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia Bride – dedicated to brides-to-be that endured the heartbreak of postponing their weddings due to COVID-19
Today is a good day. Today the limit of guests that are allowed to attend weddings in the UAE increased from 50 to 200. When the news broke this morning, I could almost hear a collective sigh of relief from brides and grooms-to-be, venues, event planners and everyone else that has been waiting, hoping, dreaming of this moment.
Ever since the world dramatically went into various states of lockdown and the unfathomable reality of social distancing hit home, naturally, it has been the region’s wedding industry – a community close to my heart – that I’ve resonated with the most. From the small independent vendors to the grand hotels that had to temporarily close their doors, my heart went out to them during the difficult time that we all unexpectedly had to experience. But, today is a good day.
With that in mind, I couldn’t be happier to present our stunning autumn/winter 20 issue to you, dear brides-to-be. You are the reason we create this beautiful magazine and I adore being with you on each and every step of your journey. To those of you that have endured the heartbreak of postponing your wedding, this issue is for you. As any bride knows, planning the perfect day is a deeply personal experience and as the welcome reality of a not-so-distant wedding is now on the cards, I hope you enjoy and take inspiration from our latest edition as you plan and prepare to marry your soul mate.
From fanciful fashion, breathtaking beauty and dreamy diamonds, to every other intricate detail in-between, I invite you on an enchanting adventure throughout the pages, and what better place to begin, as I always say, than with one of my favourite sections – our epic Real Weddings that serve as the ultimate moodboard inspiration, thanks to five brides who so kindly opened up their wedding albums to share with us. See their whimsical days unfold where you’ll be treated to fairy-tale ceremonies including an out-of-this-world Sicilian setting, and a colourful carousel of celebrations in Ras Al Khaimah.
Lastly, as 2020 draws to a close, I wish you and your loved ones all the health and happiness in the world.
Love has prevailed. Love always wins.
