Married life needn’t always begin with an oceanfront view. Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley showcases a different side to Australia’s natural beauty - and there's never been a better time to visit…

The Escape | Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley Is The Remote Australian Hideaway Of Your Honeymoon Dreams

Renowned for enticing newlyweds in search of once-in-a-lifetime adventures, Australia appears to have it all. Unapologetically boasting everything from cosmopolitan cities and luxurious ski resorts to pristine beaches, tropical rainforests and a vast and dusty red centre at its core (home to legendary landmark, Ayers Rock) — Australia really is nature’s playground.

It may then come as a surprise that the land down under has been keeping a big secret. One you may not have heard it boasting about. That secret goes by the name of Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley — and there has never been a better time to plan an Aussie adventure following the heartbreak the country has been through of late.

Nestled between the Gardens of Stone and Wollemi National Parks in the New South Wales Greater Blue Mountains region, the resort is set on a 7,000-acre carbon-neutral wildlife reserve. A three-hour drive from Sydney airport or a 45-minute helicopter journey over dense bushland and ancient sandstone escarpments delivers a unique start to an unforgettable honeymoon.

Upon arrival guests are transported from the front gates to the Main Homestead in 4x4 Land Rovers — no other vehicles are allowed inside. Mobile phone signal is also left at the front gates as you head into a remote part of the valley. The seclusion and tranquillity are part of the allure... allow the serenity to begin.

A bespoke itinerary is offered upon check in. The resort occupies just one per cent of the entire property so there’s a vast amount of ground to cover and discover. Daily bush walks, private horse-back adventures, glow worm tunnel tours and nocturnal wildlife spotting allow guests to get up close and personal with Australia’s native wildlife, and woodland ecology.

Once the sun sets, the dining room comes to life in preparation for the chef ’s daily degustation. All produce used at the resort’s two restaurants and terrace bar is carefully sourced from a close circle of artisan farmers within 160km, creating one-of-a-kind menus. All meals and beverages are included with accommodation packages and are impeccably tailored to guests’ tastes. Couples looking for a unique private dining experience can opt for a secluded picnic, a romantic in-villa feast or a gourmet Aussie barbeque beneath the stars.

Doused in natural stone and raw timber, each of the 40 one, two, and three-bedroom environmentally responsible villas feature cosy double- sided fireplaces, luxurious bathrooms and over-sized dressing rooms. A private pool and expansive wrap-around veranda providing uninterrupted views of the breath-taking valley comes as standard. Our advice? Request one of the more remote corners of the resort and you will feel like the only guests around.
In the mornings, allow the sound of wild birds, thumping kangaroos and burrowing wombats to serve as your alarm clock before participating in a customised wellness ritual. Slowing down and embarking on a journey of personal discovery is the resort’s speciality and a private couples’ yoga session followed by an organic facial, massage, scrub and wrap inspired by the richness of the surrounding land is an absolute must.
