The Australian-Iranian artist speaks to Bazaar Bride Editor, Nina Catt, about her make-up must-haves, at-home beauty tricks and professional facials you need to try
Singer and entrepreneur Layla Kardan stunned in a red wedding gown by Middle Eastern designer, Hanayen Couture. Here’s how she prepared for her big moment…
SKINCARE:
What was the main focus in the run-up to your wedding day? I wanted my skin to glow so I did lots of facials, masks, scrubs and facial massages to rejuvenate my complexion and stimulate collagen.
Who did you go to for advice? I am lucky to have lots of friends in the beauty industry who also own clinics, so I asked them for advice. But I also know what works for my skin. I generally stay out of the sun, but I did schedule a couple of days to catch some rays as that always gives an instant glow.
What professional treatments did you have? I had PRP at Ivory Aesthetics Clinic, a cleansing facial at Dento Faces Cosmetic Clinic and facial massage/lymphatic drainage at The Salon Face Bar. I also did an IV drip at DNA Health & Wellness Clinic.
When did you start your bridal skincare regime? I was super busy with Papillon, my new cabaret and restaurant, so I wasn’t able to prepare months in advance. Two weeks in lead-up to the big-day, I really upped my routine.
Tell us about your at-home regime? I am a big fan of Sunday Riley and MZ Skin products. I use their products daily. Sunday Riley has a beautiful oil called Luna sleeping night oil (Dhs215) and MZ Skin has the best serums and creams for the eyes. I also love the Super Radiance Resurfacing Facial (Dhs295) and the Collagen Superfusion facial oil by Charlotte Tilbury.

Any other at-home tips and tricks? I drank plenty of water with lemon, and I make my own natural mask with papaya and oatmeal. I also use ice packs for decreasing puffiness around the eyes.
COSMETICS & FRAGRANCE:
What lip colour did you wear? I wore Tom Ford Lip Color lipstick in Pink Casablanca (Dhs260). Foundation and concealer? Dior Beauty foundations – they are so beautiful on the skin. For concealer I used Tarte Creaseless undereye concealer in Light Sand (Dhs110). I also used illuminating primers from Valentino Beauty.

And your nail colour? Classic nude-pink. Essie’s Ballet Slippers (Dhs65).

Did you wear false lashes, or have lash extensions? I have given up on lash extensions as they never last long on me, and rip my natural lashes out. I wore fake lashes and opted for a natural-looking length.
And what about your eyebrows? I had a tint at Brau brow salon.
What was your wedding day fragrance? Young Rose by Byredo (Dhs990) mixed with Ojar Wadi Bloom Absolute perfume oil (Dhs620) – the combination of the the two is amazing.

Great tip! What was your husband’s fragrance? He wore Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdijan.
HAIR:
What did you do in the the run-up to the wedding? I did a colour refresh, cut and treatment with my go-to guru Arezo Sayady.
What is your favourite at-home hair treatment? I mix my own oils to make my hair shiny, and I also use Izil’s 3 oils rehydrating conditioner (Dhs125).

Finally, please tell us about your big-day hairstyle? I had a loose retro-wave that I know will be timeless. My look was created by the lovely editorial artist, Natalya Volkova.
