Billie Eilish Is Number One On Spotify’s Top 10 Female Artists
The music streaming service has crunched the numbers for International Women’s Day to reveal the leading ladies in music
Spotify has just confirmed what we all already suspected: Billie Eilish is number one. Ahead of International Women’s Day, the streaming service has published a list of the biggest female names in music and unsurprisingly Billie Eilish leads the pack with 10.3 billion all-time streams. With the recent release of her James Bond theme single No Time to Die, the Grammy award winner is also the top artist overall this year.
Among the other top 10 are musical powerhouses Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande at second and third places, respectively. Halsey also continues her steady rise to fame, stealing the fourth spot on the list. Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa and Nicki Minaj all continue to be listener favourites.
Spotify’s ranking list is being published as part of the global #musicneedswomen International Women’s Day campaign that goes live on March 8. It will highlight the importance of women to the music industry with a Women’s History Month hub that curates tracks, playlists and podcasts by female creators. 2020 is clearly set to be a high note in the movement for gender equality.
