While still a relatively new face to the industry, Egyptian actor Gihan El Shamashergy is already making waves in the world of film. Gihan first made her debut in 2020 when she joined the cast of the popular series Hekayat Banat. Since then, she’s starred alongside many distinguished names including Asser Yassine, Dina El Sherbiny, and most recently Mona Kazi in the film Rehla 404.

She studied English Literature.
It appears that the actor always had a fascination with the arts as she studied English Literature at university.

She is a jewellery designer.
After graduating, Gihan launched her very own jewellery business, adding Entrepreneur, Jewellery Designer, and Metalsmith to her impressive portfolio. The company currently operates between Cairo and Berlin.

She values social work.
Gihan showed interest in social work early on in her career. She has spent some time in South Egypt, using her business to support developing communities by providing workshops where girls and women can come together to create beautiful jewellery.
In the past, she has collaborated with the Banati Foundation, a space created to aid children with shelter, education, sports, arts and crafts. Gihan also often shares images of her students’ projects, clearly proud of their work.

She is a skilled dancer.
Aside from being a talented actor, Gihan is a brilliant dancer, mastering contemporary dance thanks to her studies in the art.

She is interested in sustainable development.
It is clear that Gihan loves learning as the actor studied sustainable development through various educational platforms. Whilst she continues to further her research in sustainable community improvement on her own, she has ambitious plans to establish an art school that will put her education into practice and offer lifelong learning opportunities for personal development.
