Maya Diab Speaks Out About Lebanon’s Protests

The former BAZAAR cover star takes to Instagram to share several moving posts

Lebanese star Maya Diab joins other socialites and celebrities when speaking out about her country. Although the Prime Minister of Lebanon, Saad Hariri, has just given in his resignation in result of the riots, the Lebanese citizens are asking for more from their country’s leaders.

Lebanon’s citizens have currently been protesting for more than 12 days in opposition of the Middle Eastern country’s government and the corrupt ongoings that have been taking place. The Chouf mountain forest-fires in Lebanon were also a reason of these growing tensions, with many being left without homes and with very little resources to provide for themselves. As a Lebanese woman, Diab used her influential platform on social media to speak her voice.

Just a week ago, the former BAZAAR cover star took to Instagram to post a video of herself stood atop a car waving a giant Lebanese flag.

Similar to other influencers, including Dana Hourani, Karen Wazen,  Nathalie Fanj and our former BAZAAR cover star Nadine Labaki; these strong Lebanese females have not held back or lowered their voices in regards to the political climate surrounding their home.

This isn’t the first time Diab’s shown love to her country using social media. She has also previously re-posted a video from the Lebanese Army’s instagram that shows a young girl in army uniform, saluting.

But the post on everyone’s lips is the video she shared two days ago, depicting a red line painted onto her arm.

In the video, which is recorded in Arabic, the singer and actress simply stays that there is a ‘red line’ and has had enough.
