4 Inspirational Ramadan Talks On Health, Art And Culture That Are Worth Checking Out This Month

What could be more soul-nourishing than breaking your fast whilst gaining some thought-provoking insight into some of today’s most pertinent topics?
Every Wednesday evening throughout May, Dubai’s forward-thinking healthy-eating hub, Flow, will give guests the opportunity to enjoy an educational talk from an Emirati expert, alongside a tasty Iftar meal.

An inspiring, all-Emirati cast of specialists in health, art, literature and social policy will share their own personal experiences, today’s triumphs and challenges, and their hopes for the future. Dubbed the ‘The Modern Majlis’, the curated series of talks in an intimate environment aim to open up dialogue and inspire debate, engaging and enlightening diners, no matter nationality or origin, on fields of contemporary relevance.

Dr. Reem Al Gurg, Professor of Health Policy at the College of Medicine, will give the first talk, sharing nutritional advice to keep healthy during the Holy Month. Artist, designer and illustrator Khalid Mezaina will not only take diners through his own path but showcase some of his illustrations – sure to provide a feast for the eyes. Get your culture fix with Jalal Luqman – an internationally recognised author and artist, notably the UAE’s first digital artist in the ‘90s, who will share his own journey, inspiration and dreams. Last but by no means least on the agenda is Eman Al Mughairy, an Abu Dhabi Youth Hub Project Manager, who will discuss topics of ‘connecting for positive change’ and the significance of the ‘Year of Tolerance’.

The Flow Talks – Ramadan Series will take place at Flow, Jumeriah Emirates Towers, from 8pm every Wednesday, starting 8th May until 29th May. Entry to the talks is free.
