From the cast members to the plot, Bazaar Arabia shares all the details about the new release here…

Netflix’s latest Arabic-language production, The Cage, is all set to take viewers into the wild world of rocky marriages, but with a comedic twist.

The announcement comes as one of the streaming platform’s ongoing efforts to highlight Arabic Cinema and creatives from the region.

The Cage is Netflix’s first step into Kuwaiti filmmaking but it certainly won’t be the last, as more exciting projects from the country are being put into the pipeline, all guaranteed to bring fresh takes on Arab society.

Ahead of it’s upcoming launch, Bazaar Arabia shares all the details we know about the anticipated show.

The Plot

The plot of the new show revolves around a social counsellor who, in the process of helping a married couple with a sinking relationship reconnect, must also juggle the problems in his own personal life.

Although, very much based in the realities of failing marriages and bitter couples, the series will look at the counsellor’s journey of reviving one such dynamic and guiding the couple in question through taking on marital challenges from a light and relatable lens.

The relationship in focus will be depicted across a 10-year timeline while also showing how the husband and wife work to understand their differences and their own perspectives on their marriage as it evolves, in the present.

The Team

Produced by Kuwaiti actor Abdullah Boushahri and directed by Jasem Almuhanna, the 8-episode drama-comedy stars the most famous and well-loved faces of Kuwaiti Cinema. Khaled Ameen is stepping into the shoes of one of the protagonists, the counsellor, while Hussain AlMahdi and Rawan Mahdi play the struggling pair he helps.

The Release

The Cage is slated to premiere on Netflix on September 23.
