Introducing Desert Rock Resort: Where Architectural Excellence Will Soon Meet The Natural Beauty of Saudi Arabia
From panoramic views of the mountain canyons below to a front row seat for spotting shooting stars at night, this luxe resort will be like no other retreat throughout the region…
Taking its cue from travelers’ desire to immerse themselves in their cultural and visual surroundings, the unveiling of designs for the Desert Rock Resort in Saudi Arabia prove it does just that. Set in one of the most dramatic desert landscapes in the world, the Desert Rock resort is being integrated into the stunning mountainside and offers panoramic views of the mountain canyons below and a canopy of stars above.

The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) – the developer behind this ambitious regenerative tourism project – worked alongside the world-class architectural design firm, Oppenheim Architecture, to create a resort that will allow its visitors to connect with nature and the local Saudi culture. The story of the resort predates its development, the unique rock formations included in the resort architecture were produced by a series of cataclysmic seismic events thousands of years ago. The architecture has been designed to retain this natural beauty while also reducing energy consumption, supercharging the ecosystem, and regenerating native flora. “Our key intention when designing the resort was to build with the land, not on it, and to be mindful of the stunning nature elements that already exist at the site, amplifying its natural beauty.”, said Chad Oppenheim, Founder of Oppenheim Architecture.

Guests will enter the resort through a hidden valley nestled between the mountains; here, they will encounter the 48 villas and 12 hotel rooms, located throughout the property — including a select number of excavated suites within the rock itself. The resort will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including a world-class spa, fitness centre, remote destination dining areas as well as a feature lagoon oasis. To make sure that you get the full Nabatean experience of Desert Rock, you’ll be able to hear and learn about the ancient history of the area from local community experts who will accompany you on hikes within the valley. The site-wide activities programme also features dune buggies and star gazing.
The Desert Rock resort will be open for guests to visit as part of phase one of the Red Sea destination set to complete in 2023.
