MFW: Top 10 Looks From Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring/Summer 2020 Show

Welcome to the Sicilian Jungle. BAZAAR rounds up 10 of our favourite looks from the 120-piece show (as hard as that was)

Animal prints, safari vibes, pin-ups, Nero Sicilia, the 1950s, bustiers and natural fibers. Our list could go on if we were asked to highlight our favourite moments that Dolce & Gabbana presented at their S/S20 Milan Fashion Week show. The brand created a fusion of a fierce Italian woman from the ’50s who was on a weekend-getaway in the Amazon – a look that we now want to achieve. Who said you couldn’t look chic on a jungle safari?

The variety of jungle-inspired prints of palm leaves, florals, pineapples, West African instruments and cocounts decked many of the pieces from this runway show. Combined with a play on texture; using straw, macrame, raffia, silk and sequins – the collection made for a very exciting line up. The bright, bold and beautiful colours of Earth’s natural wonders were reflected onto this other-worldly runway with a primary colour-scheme including striking magenta, hues of blue, a staple emerald green, rich reds, tame oranges and khaki & black to add balance. Exotic flower headpieces and micro-bags were also scattered on the runway, styled fabously by Dolce’s models.

We can confidently say that any look from this S/S20 show would give Jane – from Tarzan – a run for her money.

A constructed coconut bustier and khaki cargo pants is a look we’re definitely here for. The bustier lined with trimmed straw and leopard-print belt are the edgy but fun accents that top this entire outfit Dolce & Gabbana took a safari-trip look and made it high fahsion with this.

Because every BAZAAR woman needs a classic staple LBD in their closet. We love the square neck and different-angled straps as a combination for this knee-length dress. Along with the neatly placed pin-up hair, we’re getting a very ’90s, Christy Turlington, vibe.

This strapless gown with an empire line is the epitome of jungle-sophistication. Intricate patterns of the jungle print give us a scene of the tropical weekend-getaway we’ve been dying to go to. Styled with a red lip and an exquisite tropical flower head piece, it’s safe to say that this outfit brings that Dolce & Gabbana Italian elegance to the runway.

Who doesn’t need a power-suit? This ensemble of an all-striking-green suit did more than just pop out on the runway. The reflecitve fabric and pairing of a turquoise blouse & tie to the suit created a balance we didn’t even know we needed to see.

The perfect dress for a night out. Velvet was only one of the many fabrics that Dolce & Gabbana brought to their S/S20 runway; and this shimmering grey-blue shade is exactly what we wanted to see (and a must-have we want to add to our closet). The ruched bodycon dress is a style we’ve seen around mainstream media before, but nothing compares to this Dolce & Gabbana look.

A dress constructed from straw is by far one of the best looks that we’ve seen come down this catwalk. The design of white-on-beige stripes and hoop earrings reminds us of the perfect outfit you’d wear on a summer cruise of island holiday.

Another straw dress has made it to our favourites list – but this look includes much more intricate weaving than the last. The square neck and thin straps is very on-trend, and the silk neckscarf is essential 1950’s woman. The matching of dress and accessories has us obsessed.

Large, bold lead prints in green and turquoise adorn this 3-piece suit and its sister-coat. We love the double-sided aspect of the coat and how you have the pick of print, along with puffed short sleeves and a peaked lapel. Any fierce woman could rock this dramatic look.

More palm leave patterns? Yes please. This co-ord set isn’t like any other. The rich shade of emerald green amongst the print, with dark brown trimmed straw across the edges of the outfit accentuates the entire chic-jungle-look that Dolce & Gabbana’s going for. We’re can’t decide which part of the set we way to buy first.

And last but not least, our 10th favourite look is a classic tropicana dress. The red-green-black colour scheme that the print of this dress gives us is a staple  colour combo for any of your holiday travels. With the the strappy heeled sandals and thigh slit included, this dress is fun, flirty and still stylish. Typical of any look from this Dolce & Gabbana S/S20 show.
