Johanna Ortiz Launches H&M Collaboration

The Colombian designer is known for her flamboyance and vibrancy

Johanna Ortiz has launched a high street collection for H&M. Ready to inject a little colour into your winter wardrobe, the Colombian designer has created four dress styles that can be worn in both the summer and winter months.

Ortiz is known for her flattering use of ruffles and exotic floral prints, two signatures that feature heavily in the new range. Although the initial four styles is available online and in stores today, the full collection launches in March.

Colours span warm yellow and dusty pink to forest green and coral-infused dark brown giving the collection a seasonless appeal – these are dresses that can be worn with boots and a roll-neck during winter and with sandals and bare legs when spring arrives. Prices start at Dhs195 and stretch to Dhs290.

“The prints all come from my obsession with the flowers, the palm trees and the beautiful colours I am blessed to see out the window when I wake up at home in Cali, in my native Colombia,” says Ortiz.

“The imprint of Latin America and its uniquely festive atmosphere is something that can be felt in each Johanna Ortiz design, so I’m thrilled that so many women in the world will have a little piece of Colombia in their wardrobes thanks to the Johanna Ortiz x H&M collaboration.”

Maria Östblom, head of womenswear design at H&M, worked closely with Ortiz from her Californian home, praising her for her use of colour and dramatic silhouettes.

“We are thrilled to be able to celebrate Colombia’s rich history and craftsmanship and to bring Johanna’s signature happiness-inducing designs to the H&M customer,” said Östblom.
