The Magic Circle will be showcased in Al Hamra Mall, Kuwait, on 28 and 29 November

Introducing The Magic Circle: an all-female, globetrotting trunk show, founded by Najeeba Hayat from Kuwait-based Liudmila Footwear, Nafsika and Stephanie Skourti from Jordan-based label Nafsika Skourti and Beatrice Bongiasca from the eponymous Milan-based jewellery line.

The four women have been producing stunning collections under their own labels for over six years and recently came together to create a community of like-minded brands who support and champion one another, through the concept of The Magic Circle.

NAFSIKA SKOURTI is the modern Arab spirit, without all the camels and arabesques. Trained at Central St Martins and Lesage in Paris, Nafsika perfected her skills at Marchesa before launching her own line in 2014. Together with her sister Stephanie, she expresses the wants and desires of the young Arab woman, unfiltered through the stock imagery of “our heritage” (falcons, tents, camels, etc etc.) She designs from her emotion and her experience growing up in Amman speaking Arabic and listening to Britney Spears. Nafsika Skourti’s been on the radar of ID magazine, Garage and Vogue since their first collection. They dissected a lineup of grey business suits with embroidered seismographic waves of colour, interrupting the neutral wool with wild sunset prints; a dream of another life. Nafsika Skourti show in Paris and sell their collections at the Middle East’s coolest independent boutiques. #MEETNAFSIKA on the 31st! #DONTBELATE

The concept manifests itself as a kind of rebellion against the culture of hype fashion – a culture that is especially prevalent on social media platforms like Instagram. In an age dominated by consumer waste and environmental crises, The Magic Circle embodies the vision that shoppers should only buy new items if they will eventually pass them on.

To introduce new clients to this vision and into their world, The Magic Circle leverages each other’s networks, shares resources and constantly cross-promotes one another to create stunning three-day immersive shopping shows, inviting the public to escape into their fashion fantasies.

The theme of this year’s trunk show, A Magic Forest, will see the creation of a magical holiday forest, complete with non-toxic snow, replantable trees that will be donated after the event  and recyclable, biodegradable flooring. The show will be open to all members of the public at the Al Hamra Shopping Center in Kuwait City on 28 and 29 November 2019, from 10am to 10pm.

We’ll be watching this space.
