This Former Bazaar Editor Just Launched A Collection At Level Shoes
And you’re going to want every piece
If you can’t find it, make it! So goes the philosophy behind many fashion lines, including Neous, a new shoe label founded by former Bazaar editor Vanissa Antonius, which has just landed in Level Shoes.
“I worked at Harper’s Bazaar Australia and then moved to Harper’s Bazaar UK and worked on the brand for eight years. I started as an intern and worked my way up to market editor, so it was my job to know the market,” she tells us whilst in town to fête the launch of her collection in The Dubai Mall. “I knew the accessories market very well and that’s was brought on Neous: the need to create something that I felt really didn’t exist.”
“It was a desire to create footwear that is comfortable, wearable, accessible price point and had a minimalistic aesthetic with a point of interest about it,” she adds.
The result? A super sleek collection of shoes with a ’90s slant. Think low-slung mules, square-toed strappy sandals, and leather boots with a sparing simplicity.
“The heels are a little bit more adventurous; they have simple uppers, meaning the heels are the main focus. Then the strappy styles are easier to wear and a bit more understated. There is a style that appeals to every woman.”
Neous, which is based out of London, started in 2017 and already has a slew of high profile retailers, from The Modist to Net-a-Porter, carrying its styles.
“I think seasons are slowly becoming a thing of the past,” says Vanissa. “Our collections are becoming very transeasonal and because we work on a global basis, and we’ve got partners and customers all over the world, we make sure all collections cover every season.”
