Dubai Rain Recovery Number: UAE Citizens Can WhatsApp For Support

The service is for citizens who were affected by the unprecedented weather conditions from last week’s storm

The UAE was hit by a severe thunderstorm on April 16 – the worst storm its seen in 75 years – which led to flooding and disruption across the Emirates. Fortunately, first responders and rescue workers worked tirelessly to help residents and those in need, working quickly to close roads and provide urgent aid where needed.

A newly established committee was tasked with reviewing requests from UAE citizens, while developers were directed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to support renters and homeowners in the dealing of the aftermath.

Dubai Rain Recovery: Property Developers To Help Communities Affected By Floods Amidst Sheikh Hamdan’s Directive

The directive by Sheikh Hamdan outlines a list of essential services which are to be provided to Dubai residents free of charge.

The services include:

  • Free temporary housing for residents affected by the weather
  • Distribution of food within affected communities
  • Assistance with returning to residential properties
  • Enhanced security to ensure the safety of all residents
  • Monitoring and documenting damage caused by the storm during the insurance coverage period
  • Assistance in assessing potential risks to properties

A number of Dubai property developers, including Emaar, Nakheel, Dubai Holding, Union Properties, and Dubai Investments Park are confirmed to be taking part in the initiative, which is being implemented in collaboration with Dubai Land Department (DLD) and Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA). Additionally, property developers Emaar and MAG have said they will pay for repair work within their communities.

Sheikh Hamdan also added that he would personally monitor the progress of the response measures.

Earlier, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, directed the establishment of the body to urgently evaluate all requests from impacted UAE citizens in the emirate.

The initiative is part of a series of assistance programmes launched by Sheikh Hamdan, who was quoted as saying: “The well-being of citizens remains the top priority of the Dubai government,” by the Dubai Media Office.

According to a Dubai Media Office post on X, the social media platform that was formerly known as Twitter, the service is for those who are facing a power outage, dealing with a house that is uninhabitable, or require any other services.

Dubai has launched a dedicated WhatsApp number for citizens who were impacted by the storm and has begun the process of receiving submissions from affected families via its dedicated WhatsApp number, 0583009000.

Once a UAE citizen has messaged they number they will then receive an automated message with a link, depending on the part of the city they’re in. They will then have to fill out a form and include some information like their name, contact number, exact location, and whether there are elderly people or people of determination present at the location.
