Dubai Rain Recovery: Property Developers To Help Communities Affected By Floods Amidst Sheikh Hamdan’s Directive

The Crown Prince approved a series of initiatives to urgently mitigate the impact of the storm

In a statement over the weekend, Crown Prince of Dubai and and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, urged property developers and management companies in the Emirate to help communities affected by the floods.

The city was thrown into disarray last week after an unprecedented storm ravaged the UAE, leaving many roads, buildings, and residential homes flooded and damaged.

Now, in the aftermath of the storm, Dubai residents are attempting to repair their flood-damaged homes.

Dubai Rain Recovery: Property Developers To Help Communities Affected By Floods Amidst Sheikh Hamdan’s Directive

The directive by Sheikh Hamdan outlines a list of essential services which are to be provided to Dubai residents free of charge.

The services include:

  • Free temporary housing for residents affected by the weather
  • Distribution of food within affected communities
  • Assistance with returning to residential properties
  • Enhanced security to ensure the safety of all residents
  • Monitoring and documenting damage caused by the storm during the insurance coverage period
  • Assistance in assessing potential risks to properties

The housing drive forms part of a series of initiatives that were approved by the Crown Prince to urgently mitigate the impact of the storm.

Dubai Rain Recovery: Which Property Developers Are Taking Part?

A number of Dubai property developers, including Emaar, Nakheel, Dubai Holding, Union Properties, and Dubai Investments Park are confirmed to be taking part in the initiative, which is being implemented in collaboration with Dubai Land Department (DLD) and Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA).

Additionally, property developers Emaar and MAG have said they will pay for repair work within their communities.

Sheikh Hamdan also added that he would personally monitor the progress of the response measures.

UAE citizens can make submissions for help via a dedicated WhatsApp number, according to Gulf News. Those affected can message 0583009000 and will be sent an automated response guiding them through the process.

On Sunday evening Dubai’s Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, shared a video on Instagram thanking all those who have been tirelessly working to help restore the city and provide residents with relief.

“A special thank you to all who have contributed to our city. With your efforts, Dubai will remain a beautiful place to be,” Dubai’s Crown Prince writes in the caption.

The video was posted after Sheikh Hamdan approved a number of initiatives and measures to provide help and relief to all those affected by the storm, a rain recovery plan designed to support both Emiratis and residents who are suffering hardships in the wake of Tuesday’s unprecedented storm.
