The announcement for more rainfall in the UAE comes days after stormy skies brought in record-breaking thunder, rain, and hail on Tuesday, April 16.
On the evening of Thursday, April 18 the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) put out a weather forecast on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) for the coming few days with light to moderate rain showers on April 23.
Accompanied with partially cloudy skies, the rainfall is expected to occur in coastal areas, along with a drop in temperatures.
Wind speeds are forecasted to reach up to 40 km/h next Tuesday, blowing dust along the way. However, humid weather and light fog is expected in the days leading up to next week’s showers, with a probability of slight rain on Monday night, April 22.
As the UAE Ministry of Interiors officially declared the end of this week’s extreme weather conditions on April 17, it’s safe to say that next week’s showers are not an extension of the recent unprecedented weather.

The NCM reports that while Sharjah and Dubai may be hit with rain on Tuesday, the wet weather is most likely to occur in the mountains. Clouds and light rainfall could occur in Abu Dhabi on Monday; Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain may also see rain.
Heaviest Rain in The UAE in 75 Years: New Record Set
Stormy weather with thunder, rain, and hail hit the UAE in the early hours of Tuesday, April 16 with long-term residents of the country wondering if the showers were unprecedented.
UAE authorities confirmed that the downpours from late Monday through Tuesday night were the heaviest in 75 years, surpassing any recorded precipitation since data collection began in 1949.
The weather bureau recorded the highest rainfall in the Khatm Al Shakla area in Al Ain, reaching 254 mm in less than 24 hrs.
The Emirates encountered numerous challenges due to the severe weather conditions, yet officials and citizens united to prioritise the safety of everyone.
Unstable weather conditions impacted the country from Monday due to an extension of a “low surface pressure”, the NCM reported. Two waves of unstable weather moved across the country on Tuesday.
