Snow in Saudi: Tabuk Region Turns Into A Winter Wonderland

Despite being a country in the Arabian Peninsula, KSA’s northern region often gets covered in snow as temperatures drop in the cooler months; here’s a look at a few wintry scenes in the area…

After a chilly week and hailstorm hit the UAE, it looks like the cold breeze shifted towards Saudi Arabia. Videos of pristine white snow and hail blanketing the mountains in the kingdom circulated online on February 15.

The country experienced a significant drop in temperatures on Thursday and showers were reported in some parts of the country.

Heavy rains lashed the mountainous regions of Jabal Al Lawz, which is located in northwest Saudi Arabia, near the Jordanian border, followed by light snowfall.

Soon after, videos of the snow-covered area circulated online.

The Tabuk region sees snowfall often and is a popular destination for tourists in the GCC region to enjoy lower temperatures. The region is situated at a height of 2,600 metres above sea level, and is known for its almond bushes.
