A statement by the UAE Ministry Of Interior yesterday announced that the historical storm, which ravaged the country this week with heaviest rainfall in 75 years, along with thunderstorms, lightning, hail and floods, is now officially over.

As the country moves into a period of recovery, many major road closures in the Emirates are being lifted and some metro stations have resumed operations.

In an update on Wednesday evening, the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) informed residents that traffic is back to normal on several primary routes including Airport Road, Al Nahda Street towards Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, and at the intersection of intersection of Al Khawaneej Street and Algeria Street.

Road closures and alternative transportation routes were implemented after the Dubai Police issued a safety advice to all drivers, informing them to take precautionary measures.

The United Arab Emirates Centre for Meteorology also issues a red weather warning on Tuesday April 16, urging citizens to be vigilant.
