The beauty mogul reveals her love story (and many wedding dresses) ahead of her Islamic ceremony

Theirs is a love that blossomed in 2020 during the height of COVID-19. Introduced by the groom-to-be’s sister over a decade ago, beauty mogul and content creator Mona Kattan has found her “forever ever” with Hassan Elamin and we couldn’t be more excited for the youngest Kattan sister.

Mona Kattan is getting married!

Speaking exclusively with Bazaar Arabia’s Nina Catt, the US-Iraqi entrepreneur reveals details of the proposal, why she chose her wedding date and what she’ll be wearing when she ties the knot in front of her closest friends and family in Dubai.

The Proposal Caught Her Off Guard…

I was completely surprised at the timing of the proposal,” Mona reveals, “we had obviously talked about our future together and planned to get married at some point, but I did not see the proposal coming when he did it.”

The Dubai-based couple were staying at Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara when Hassan surprised Mona with a stunning cushion-cut engagement ring. “On the night of the proposal, he was being so funny and goofy. He wanted us to have an al fresco dinner, and then he wanted us to dance. While we were slow dancing, he got down on one knee and it just threw me off.” Mona reminisces about the evening of December 4, 2021. “The proposal was very romantic and cheesy, which is exactly what I love.”

Her Family Approves of Hassan Elamin

Sharing the news on Instagram with her 2.4 million followers, the co-founder of Kayali fragrances and Huda Beauty tells Bazaar that Hassan asked her father for permission before proposing.  “My family love Hassan and are just so happy to welcome his family into ours.”

The Wedding Date Has A Special Meaning Behind It…

Originally planning to have a huge wedding celebration, the couple have chosen a downsized union due to certain pandemic restrictions remaining in place. “My feng shui consultant suggested February 22, 2022. I really love beautiful and unique dates.”

She Has Multiple Wedding Dress Options

With so many Middle Eastern designers naturally eager to create Mona’s gown, the brunette beauty tells Bazaar, “As soon as we got engaged, I went wedding dress shopping with my sisters, and they ended up gifting me the most magical Zuhair Murad dress. Then I went to Esposa to try on a whole bunch of dresses and found another one I loved.”

A woman with many choices, Mona reveals she has six options to choose from including a breathtaking piece from Vera Wang’s latest collection. We can’t wait to see which one, two or more Mona finally settles on…

Best of luck, Mona and Hassan!
