In the heart of one of London’s most chic neighbourhoods, 34 Mayfair is impossible to miss this summer with its vibrant floral outdoor display. Inside, however, traditional British decor greets you, along with unparalleled and attentive service.
Among the starters, the Cornish crab perfectly paired with sharp pink grapefruit, avocado and pistachio was a stand-out dish. The steamed Norfolk asparagus accompanied with hollandaise is a delightfully rich way to start your meal, particularly for vegetarians.
Though grilled dishes cooked in the eatery’s bespoke charcoal grill (parrilla) seem like the obvious option for mains, the delectable spiced spatchcock chicken is a must-try for anyone visiting 34 Mayfair. Served with pine nuts and vegetable slaw, the sizeable portion of tender flavoursome chicken falls off the bone – you’ll be remembering this dish long after your visit.
Another alternative is the hearty 34 hamburger served with cheese, caramelised onions and bacon that’s guaranteed to hit the spot for those meaty cravings.
The restaurant may be famed for its carnivorous offerings – and quite-rightly so –, but don’t dream of leaving without having dessert. Passion fruit creme brûlée, with mango sorbet and tropical fruit, was one of the highlights of the meal. The passion fruit made for a delicious addition to a humble creme brûlée, adding flavour without being overbearing, while the moresome mango sorbet was heavenly.
34 Mayfair is open from 12 pm to 11 pm from Monday to Friday, from 11:30 am to 11 pm on Saturdays and 11:30 am to 10 pm on Sundays.
