Today, the first Emirati Astronaut will be launched to the International Space Station (ISS). At 5.30pm Hazzaa AlMansoori will begin his first expedition to space, making him the first Arab on the ISS.

Last night, the Burj Khalifa also lit to show their support for AlMansoori. The tallest building in the world projected a picture of the Emirati Astronaut and depicted a rocket launching into space.

“#HazzaaAlMansoori is one man, but he represents the dreams and ambitions of millions of #Arabs around the world. Be part of his incredible journey to #Space,” Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre writes on Twitter.

The historic launch will be available to stream live on social media this afternoon.

For months, AlMansoori has been documenting his training on his social media.

National Geographic will be creating a four-part documentary series  in partnership with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre to share with the world the UAE's remarkable accomplishments and unbridled ambition in relation to its National Space Programme.
