In Review: The FOREO Luna Fofo Facial Cleanser
Introducing the world’s first 2-in-1 smart facial cleanser that analyses your skin and personalises a routine just for you, oh and it’s pretty much pocket sized…
Now, if you haven’t already heard of FOREO’s range of nifty little cleansing devices, then you’re in for a treat.
FOREO (standing for ‘FOR EveryOne’) is a collection of futuristic-looking, rubberised devices that includes toothbrushes, face masks and silicone facial cleansers. A Swedish brand loved by regional style favourites Nathalie Fanj and Huda Kattan, it was created in 2013 and has taken the skincare world by storm.
I like to consider myself as a firm fan of the FOREO range, despite only ever purchasing the Luna mini 2 about a year ago. Instantly wow’ed with how the device worked on my skin, it’s safe to say it was love-at-first-cleanse.
To see if FOREO really can do no wrong, I decided to test out the LUNA fofo, possibly the smartest (and cutest!) member of the FOREO range. A little more affordable than the Luna mini 2, which’ll set you back Dhs690, the LUNA fofo rings in at around Dhs450, and the fun-sized device packs so much more than what you’d expect.
They say ‘good things come in small packages’, and here, the saying has never rung truer. The world’s first smart cleanser starts by analysing the moisture levels on your skin using two 24 karat gold sensors on the back of the device.
How to use the LUNA fofo…
First things first, I had to download the app. After installation and creating an account (you have to fill out some info about yourself, including how many glasses of water you drink a day, whether you sunburn easily and your age). I was then able to sync the device to my phone via Bluetooth before being instructed to place the sensors on my left and right cheek, my forehead and my nose, to properly gage my skin moisture levels.
I was then given my own personal cleansing routine with a set number of seconds to spend swirling the device on various areas of my face both day and night. I was also given a ‘skin score’ out of 100, a ‘skin age’ and a level of moisture, too.
The verdict…
Having used the device for about a week now, I instantly feel awake and my skin feels a lasting nourishment after every use. The silicone body of the device is something I have always been a fan of. Being a little bit of a germaphobe, I love the fact that the device is super hygienic and a ground-breaking reinvention of some of the alternative germ-harbouring cleansing devices on the market today.
The cleanser is totally waterproof and has a two-zone surface, with finer bristles for larger surface areas like my cheeks and forehead, and thicker bristles to work on the T-zone and chin for a deeper cleanse. It’s also said to last for around 400 uses before it’s time to replace the two AAA batteries.
It’s safe to say, in my opinion the Luna fofo is fabulous and definitely worth the hype.
